MycoTechnology, Inc. is looking for an associate scientist to join our growing R&D team. The position will focus on the development of bench-top and pilot fermentation processes and improvement of existing technologies towards bench top and pilot-scale fermentation.
- Conduct routine laboratory experiments using established procedures and protocols
- Preparation, operation, and maintenance of microbial bioreactor systems for batch and fed-batch fermentation
- Design and execute experiments to support late-stage development activities such as fermentation and stability studies
- Contribute to experimental design approaches within a multidisciplinary research and development team
- Maintain and serve as example for clean and well-organized laboratory workspace
- Identifies problems, analyzes possible causes and suggests improvements in methods, techniques, and equipment
- Support technical transfer into manufacturing
- Ensure safety procedures and culture norms are followed

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, biochemistry, Molecular biology, Chemistry, Food Science or relevant field from an accredited college or university
- 2+ years’ industrial (or relevant academic) research or equivalent experience
- Strong technical knowledge in fermentation, protein production, and clear understanding of basic fungal biology
- Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Able to work in a team and adapt to a dynamic work environment including changing priorities and quick turnaround projects
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to present ideas in an understandable, non-technical manner to internal and external constituencies
- Excellent record-keeping skills
- Able to work a flexible schedule
